An electric bicycle, also known as an e-bike, is a bicycle that is equipped with an electric motor and a battery. The electric motor assists the rider’s pedaling and provides additional power to make cycling easier, especially uphill or against headwinds. The motor can be activated by a throttle or through pedaling, and the amount of assistance can be adjusted based on the rider’s preferences. Electric bicycles can have various designs and features, ranging from foldable commuter bikes to full-suspension mountain bikes with powerful motors and long-range batteries. E-bikes are becoming increasingly popular for their convenience, affordability, and eco-friendliness, as they offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional vehicles for short-distance commuting and transportation.

Rear hub motors increase our eBike’s durability by transferring the force directly into the rear hub rather than through the chain. This drastically reduces the stress on the chain giving it a longer life. In the unlikely event that your chain would break, the hub motor, which operates separately from the chain, will still get you to your destination.

No. Our founder’s background is in chemistry and physics. These systems actually decrease the overall range of the bike. Regenerative systems cause the bike to be heavier and have more motor resistance (required for regeneration). These two factors make them harder to pedal. You will be less tired and get more miles through normal pedaling.

Lithium-ion batteries are considered hazardous materials and must be shipped in compliance with strict federal regulations. Packaging a battery and getting the right paperwork in order takes extra time.

Packaging & certification
Before a battery even leaves our warehouse in route to you, it must go through Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) certification and approval, which takes about 2-3 business days from when you place your order.

Transit time varies based on location
Regulations require batteries be delivered using ground transportation. Transit times will vary depending on your location in the US or Canada.

Track delivery time and status
When the battery leaves our warehouse, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number from the shipping courier (e.g. FedEx). The courier’s tracking number will give you delivery updates and timelines.

There are two main types of electric bicycle motors: hub motors and mid-drive motors. Hub motors are located in the wheel hub and provide direct power to the wheel. Mid-drive motors are located at the bottom bracket and transfer power to the bike’s chain or belt, which then powers the rear wheel.

The amount of assistance provided by the motor can be adjusted through a control unit, which is usually located on the handlebars. The control unit allows the rider to choose the level of assistance provided by the motor, from no assistance to maximum assistance. The level of assistance can also be adjusted based on the rider’s speed and the terrain.

Overall, the electric bicycle motor works by providing additional power to the bike’s drivetrain, making it easier for the rider to pedal and allowing them to travel further and faster with less effort.
